The dating site IllicitEncounters.com, which began in 2003, and boasts over 420,000 members across the UK, experienced a surge in female traffic, as thousands of women took to the site after what can only be assumed was a disappointing Valentine's day.
Close to 1,000 new females joined the site, and female profiles that had been dormant for a while became active again, causing a 200% increase in traffic to the dating site.
"Valentine's Day this year seemed to be a particularly important day for wives everywhere." says Sara Hartley, a rep at IllicitEncounters.com.
"Attitudes towards extra-marital relationships are changing, and, today more than ever, women are less comfortable about 'putting up' with a neglectful spouse. These women need to feel appreciated and desired, and we hope that our site will connect them with others who can fulfill those needs."
Wow, let that be a lesson to you, guys - if you forget Valentine's Day, she will spread her legs for someone else she meets online. All it takes is a box of chocolates and perhaps an "I love you."
