MEG FOWLER, a Vancouver blogger, never liked the idea of online dating and opted instead to become a Twitter-head in 2007, just as Twitter was first starting to gain notice.
It was there that Fowler ended up meeting Gradon Tripp, a Boston-based social media strategist who told her that he liked her blog. The two continued to exchange 140-character messages until finally, they met in person.
Of course, Mate1.com and eHarmony.com have been around for ages, so meeting someone online is nothing new really, but doing it in 140 characters or less is pretty impressive.
I guess it also forces the writer to say exactly what they mean as space is of the essence.
So while most people on Twitter are likely there for business or are fame whores (guilty!), it's very possible that some of them may end up clicking with each other and making it official.
So maybe it's time for you to organize a up in your area and get a bunch of ers together for some drinks. Hey, you never know what may come of it until you try.
