Testosterone Makes Us Friendlier

Testosterone Makes Us Friendlier Cover
Can testosterone really make us friendlier?

Looks like testosterone has been getting a bad rap and is actually the hormone that may be responsible for human acts of kindness, friendliness and fair play.

I don't know about you, but I call bullsh*t on this one off the bat.

Researchers gave 121 women either a single dose of testosterone or a placebo and discovered that those who were given the testosterone behaved more fairly, had fewer conflicts and were better a social interactions.

The women who were given the placebo, and thought they were given testosterone, behaved more unfairly.

The situation the 121 women were presented with involved the decision about how money would be distributed. The rules allowed for both fair and unfair ways to distribute the money, but if no agreement was reached, no one would receive any money.

Before the game took place, the women were either given a 0.5 mg dose of testosterone or a placebo.

The study discovered that the women who received the testosterone were fairer than those who didn't.

So now it seems that men have the ammunition they need to call women unreasonable. Score one for the testes.
