At times because you need a distraction, others because you need a good laugh, and others still because you need that great gut-wrenching cry. Often, when you're still in the shellshock stage, you might as well have something in front of you while you stare absently.

BEST MOMENT: KATHLEEN TURNER, avenging the accidental death of her beloved cat, serves her soon-to-be ex-husband a scrumptious batch of her homemade pate. After gobbling with unreserved gusto, she sweetly reveals tonight's secret ingredient: RRRUFFF.

FOR: THE GIRLS

Irish indie-film", starring almost-unknowns GLEN HANSARD and MARKETA IRGLOVA, captures the ordinariness of relationships in this sweet and heart aching modern musical. The pair, he an Irish busker with a broken heart and her a Czech immigrant single-mother, meet over a song and spend a week writing, rehearsing and recording a record that documents their unique love story. Once is simultaneously romantic and gut wrenching in its realism.
BEST MOMENT: Their first song together, over which they realize the immensity of their meeting.
