5 Little Dating Mistakes That Could Be Keeping You Single

Does it seem as if you only go on a first or second date and then your social life stalls? Perhaps you are doing something that you aren't unaware of that is really affecting your prospects. Here are some missteps we've compiled that might be holding you back from the love of your life.

* Not Letting go on the day's frustrations.
* THE 5 YEAR QUESTION: Imagine you just transferred to a new school and the teacher asks you if you want to be the class president. That's how a guy feels when you allude to a relationship with him in five years. I mean come on! It's still the first date. It might turn out that you think he's a creep the next time you see him. Raising the topic of marriage or kids or even a slight mention of it can send a guy into defensive mode. Dating is supposed to be fun and enjoyable - not the sharpening of a future leash.
* ENTERING INTERVIEW MODE: Everybody has experienced this at one point or another in their dating lives. It's when a lull in the conversation arises and suddenly, what was originally an interesting conversation turns into a banter of "What, when, where" type questions. You don't enjoy it and neither does he. If you feel this situation might arise, try to convey the message through your body language that silence is ok! Feeling comfortable will lead to comfortable conversation and you won't have to go through the dreaded interview style of talking.
* WATCHING TOO MANY CHICK FLICKS: Simply put, The Notebook is not a true story. Titanic is not a true story. They are idealizations. Extrapolations. Views and ideals of the true love we all aim to seek. So when your beau does not act like Leonardo Dicaprio, that is not to say he has failed, it merely means he is human.
* ASKING FOR TOO MUCH LOVE ADVICE: We all seek help from our friends when we are in trouble and when that trouble concerns love, we are all the more eager. However, sometimes too much help is unhelpful when all your friends are telling you different things to do and different things to wear, the person you should trust most in is yourself because you know yourself best. Rely on yourself and you will see that the truth you derive will be deeper than that of your friends.
