When it comes to a relationship, compromise is the secret of a lasting one. Sometimes, however, compromise is difficult to reach, especially if two alphas are dating.

But rather than cede to her demands or give her the silent treatment until she gives in to your desires, why not figure out a way to keep the relationship upper hand to begin with?

Of course, I am not insinuating that this is an issue of power, but if you want to be treated a certain way or get a certain message across, sometimes just saying so is not as effective as a man would hope.

So most men are left with two choices:

1. Adapt to and accept the way she is

2. Subtly demonstrate what makes you happy

I prefer the latter, and if you do as well, here's how you can go about getting the relationship upper hand without having to fight about it.

Do you think that you're a great boyfriend? Do you do just about everything for her, including taking her out for dinner and dancing, and buying her gifts for no reason? Well, even if she takes advantage of the fact that you do all these things, don't think for one second she's not aware of all you do.

Now if you wanted her to fully understand all the things you do, the easiest way to go about it is not by groaning about it while you're paying your Visa bill.

Of course not, that would make you a whiner, not a great boyfriend. The moment she minimizes all the things you do or manages to upset you in a way that is not easily forgettable, it's time to take action.

The only way to teach her a lesson without actually teaching her one is by taking all the luxuries you provide her with away. The trick is to make it seem like you're not punishing her though.

So if you always take her out for dinner on Saturday night, the minute she begins to get out of hand, stop buying her dinner but tell her it's because you're tired - not because you're angry.

Before you know it, her subconscious will begin to associate bad behavior with bad results and she will begin to change her ways.

And if she doesn't, then you're dating the Chrissy Snow of women.

It's no secret that everyone loves a challenge, and women go above and beyond the call of duty for one. So it should be your life's objective to remain a challenge to the woman you want to spend your life with.

And by challenge, I don't mean avoiding her phone calls and dating other women. Your objective is to challenge her brain and her desire for you.
