5 Great First Date Conversation Topics

5 Great First Date Conversation Topics Image
So you are on a first date and you are finding it hard to have a conversation. Knowing what topics to talk about is the key to a successful first date. You need to make the conversation fun, interactive and relevant.

Keep the conversation focused on her. You will find out much more about her that way and lessen the chances of you slipping up. Let the conversation flow and don't ask her questions like an interviewer would.

You can use these 5 conversation topics to find out whether she is worth seeing again. It will also help fill the dreaded awkward silences that most men fear on their first date.

WHAT SHE DOES FOR FUN

Ask her what she likes doing on weekends, what activities she likes and any hobbies she may have. Does she spend a lot of time with friends or is she a loner? This is a great topic as you get to know what she likes doing and gives you some idea of where to go or what to do on the second date.

CURRENT EVENTS

If she seems like the intellectual type, discuss what's happening in the world. Keep it light hearted and not too political or religious. If it turns out you are on the opposite ends of the political scale, it could turn into a nasty debate. Have a quick glance of a newspaper before your date and pick a few topics to discuss. Be prepared and make sure you know what you are talking about.

TRAVEL

People love to travel to various countries and holiday destinations. Ask her where she's been, what she enjoyed, what did she do there, would she go back. If she hasn't really travelled anywhere exciting before, ask her where she dreams of going.

FRIENDS AND FAMILY

Ask her about her friends, how she met them, where they go together, and what they get up to.

Find out a little bit about her family. Where do they live, how many brothers and sisters has she got, where was she brought up, how many pets does she have? This is a good way to get an insight to who she is. However if there is a hint of death, divorce or dysfunction in her family, quickly change the subject.

FUTURE PLANS

Ask her about her goals and ambitions. What does she want out of life? Ask her what her ideal job is, where would she like to live? Find out how she plans to make it all happen.
