Below are some popular training myths for you to avoid.
THE LATEST GYM EQUIPMENT GIVES BETTER RESULTS
A lot of gyms these days are full of the latest weight lifting machines. This can make it difficult to decide which machines are best for your workout. The truth is that the best gym equipment you can use is the old fashioned free weights. This is because free weights target your stabilizer muscles. To get lean you need to stimulate as much muscle as possible with each exercise you perform. Machines stabilize your muscles for you, therefore taking away the opportunity to build strong stabilizer muscles which support the growth of bigger muscles. To learn more read my post below.

THE LONGER YOURE AT THE GYM, THE BETTER THE RESULTS
If you go to the gym pretty much every single day of the week then your at risk of overtraining. When you over train you slow down muscle growth. This is because your muscle tissue doesn't have time to repair and will continue to break down. This means you will actually start to lose muscle.
When you're at the gym push your muscles, however, if your workouts are lasting more than an hour then you are either resting too much in between sets or training too much. Make sure you have rest days in between workouts to allow for your muscles to grow bigger and stronger. For more information on overtraining, read my post below.

YOU CAN LOSE YOUR BEER GUT BY DOING AB WORKOUTS
Some men think that to get a set of ripped abs they need to do hundreds of sit ups everyday. Firstly you don't need to hundreds of sit ups to develop strong abs. Secondly, your six pack wont become visible when fat is covering those muscles. To reveal this specific set of muscles you need to reduce your body fat percentage. The best way to do this is by following a good weight training program mixed with high intensity interval training and a healthy diet plan. I recommend the following training and diet programs.

FAT TURNS INTO MUSCLE
This is one myth I used to believe (for some reason). Muscle doesn't turn into fat and fat doesn't turn into muscle. Building lean muscle and losing body fat are two completely different processes.
IF YOU PERFORM CARDIO AS PART OF YOUR TRAINING, YOU WONT GAIN MUSCLE
It's true that if you perform hour long cardio training as part of your workout sessions, you will find it hard to gain muscle. However, if you concentrate on high intensity interval training mixed with a good weight training program and diet, you will be able to gain lean muscle and lose body fat. For more on high intensity training read my post below.

TO BE STRONG YOU NEED TO GET HUGE
There is no direct relationship between strength and size. You can be very small like Bruce Lee and still be extremely strong. It all depends on your training program and goals. Some men want to bulk up, however you don't have to be big to be strong.
ALWAYS TRAIN TO MUSCLE FAILURE
Pushing your body to the max every training session can lead to overtraining. You need to have hard days as well as easy days to let your body recuperate.
IF A MAN LOOKS IN SHAPE, HE KNOWS A LOT ABOUT TRAINING
Just because he looks lean and muscular, doesn't mean he knows what he is talking about. Everyone is different. What works for one person doesn't mean it will work for you. You need to find out what works for your body. By all means listen to him, and give it a go. But if you find it's not working for you, change your program.
