Having strong conversation skills is a great way to improve your success with women, but if you are having a lot of difficulty with interacting naturally then you might be trying to pre-plan what to say instead of going with the flow. You will probably find that working on your spontaneity and creativity will be a great way to overcome this problem. I would highly recommend tat you take up something like an improvisation class so that you can learn what it really means to be spontaneous and how to go with the flow instead of against it.
One of the really invaluable skills that you can learn with something like an improvisation class is how to work with whatever you are presented instead of trying to force things in. Chatting with women is a bit like putting together a puzzle. The key is finding the right place for each piece instead of trying to fit the pieces into the spaces that are immediately available. Trying to fit every piece into each space is repetitive, laborious, and boring.
The same principle applies when you are having a conversation. If you keep trying to ask questions or talk about things which you planned in advance, then the conversation is going to become unnatural and boring. This will obviously show that you don't have a strong understanding of what it means to be social and that you probably don't communicate with many people, particularly women. So learning to improvise is a skill that is definitely worth practising and honing.
WHEN A GUY IS HAVING A CONVERSATION WITH A WOMAN, IS THERE ANY WAY FOR HIM TO TELL WHETHER IT IS GOING OKAY? FOR EXAMPLE, IS THERE A CERTAIN PERCENTAGE OF TALKING THAT HE SHOULD DO OR THAT SHE SHOULD DO?
It is best not to think about a conversation in terms of percentages or worry about how much of the conversation you should contribute. Just focus on learning what it means to be more engaging. Conversation is not just about what you say. It is also about how you say things and how your gestures, motions, and body language create an inviting environment. I have noticed that guys tend to be really still or stiff when they have conversations with women. They don't use their hands to gesture or use their facial expressions to communicate the emotions which they are feeling.
One really good way to develop your conversational skills is to take up an acting class. This can help you get used to the idea of emphasizing your facial expressions and using more powerful gesturing. If you watch some clips of really good public speakers, or anyone who is very engaging and charismatic, you will see that they always use their hands very evocatively.
